Myoskeletal Alignment Technique (MAT)
MAT uses contract-relax techniques to help the nervous system feel less threatened by painful movement. By using active, pain-free therapy, signals are sent to the brain that previously painful movement is now safe. Repeated efforts disassociate pain from the movement. By allowing the body to set the pace of recovery and never pushing beyond your body’s limit, we nurture the healing process.
Our team is trained in the Erik Dalton Myoskeletal Alignment Technique.
Instrument Assisted Techniques
Graston Technique (GT) is a unique, evidence-based form of instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM). Also called muscle scraping, GT uses specially designed stainless steel instruments with unique treatment edges and angles to deliver an effective means of manual therapy. This technique impacts soft tissue lesions and fascial restrictions. GT instruments are used for diagnostic and treatment. The use of GT instruments, when combined with appropriate therapeutic exercise, leads to the restoration of pain-free movement and function.
Jeff Dailey, LMT is certified in the Graston Technique.
Cupping
Cupping is a modality that is considered a form of myofascial decompression. “Cups” made of rubber or glass are placed on the muscles creating a negative pressure environment. The negative pressure is used to release tension, lift muscle fibers and draw blood to the area.
Both Stephanie and Jeff are skilled at cupping. Cupping can be booked as an individual focus session or utilized during a 90 or 120-minute MFR session. When booking, please note to your therapist that you would like to include cupping in your session.
Kinesio Tape (K-Tape, Athletic Tape)
Kinesio tape is used as part of therapy when it is warranted and considered a best option to help achieve the desired results. Placement and use of K-tape is not random, but strategic and tailored for each individual. K-tape helps to support the body in weak areas, drive proper posture and movement while encouraging lymphatic drainage and greater circulation.
K-tape is used to help alleviate inflammation, reduce pain and increase mobility. Working with your Myfascial Release Clinic therapist, you can determine if K-tape is one of the modalities to include in your therapy program.
Jeff Dailey, LMT is our certified K-tape therapist.
